Buchla's 297 Infinite Phase Shifter, a 200 series module of the 200e boat: it « displaces the phase of an applied signal by up to 1800 degrees, depending on frequency and number of stages selected », with « barber pole » phasing continuously moving in one direction.

Key features

• Phase shift center, notch, resonance and a sweep oscillator with its depth, all voltage controlled
• 4 to 10 stages, or bypass, shown by its lamps
• A built-in envelope follower (fast, med, slow) and two complementary outputs, φ1 and φ2
• Rate of change up to 2.5 octaves per second either way (± 30 semitones per second)
• Its knobs, switches and stages kept in the patch (the module itself stores none)
