AI generator Beta

Generate a patch with AI.

The AI patches your rack or your synth with its jacks and controls, and nothing else: it lays the cables, turns the knobs, sets switches and faders, and says why at each step.

Get started

How it works

  1. 01

Open a rack or a synth in Patch mode

In the editor of one of your racks, or of a synth patch, the “Generate with AI” button.

  2. 02

    Describe the sound you want

The sound, its character and how it is played. The cost in credits is shown before launching.

  3. 03

Find the patch on the instrument

About 30 seconds later, the patch is laid out. “Details” explains every cable and every setting, and how to play it.

Asking well

The AI knows every jack and every control of the instrument. It does not guess the character you have in mind: the more your request describes it, the closer the patch gets. On the Mother-32 manual's patches, a precise request found 11 cables out of 13, a short one none.

Short request “Sequencer bass.”
A correct but generic bass: no cable, average settings.
Precise request “Low sequencer bass on the pulse wave: the filter opens as the notes rise, the envelope modulates the pulse width, a slight glide.”
The cable that makes the sound, the right switches.
The kind of soundBass, lead, pad, drone, percussion, sequence.
Its characterDry or long, dark or bright, steady or evolving.
How it is playedInternal sequencer, MIDI keyboard, held.
A technique, if you know one“The filter follows the notes”, “the envelope on the pitch”.

What the AI does not do

A whole track on one instrumentIt suggests one part, the bass or the rhythm, and says so.
A sound without what it needsIf the instrument lacks what it takes, it answers that it is impossible and says what is missing.

Improve it, version after version

Ask for another version with a note (“more aggressive”, “use the other filter”), or change it by hand. Each suggestion becomes a version of the patch: restore any of them from Versions and start again from there. The first one is never erased.

What it costs

Credits, the same as for importing a rack from a picture, shown before launching: 1 for a synth and most racks, 2 for very large ones. Your first try is free: a 1-credit generation or a rack import. A generation that fails is given back.

Beta: what we do with your requests

Requests, the patches made, your opinions and your changes may be read by the Pulsers team to improve the AI. Generated patches stay private: no other member sees them until you publish them. The best results, kept by an administrator, serve as examples to the AI for later requests.

Questions

Can the AI use modules I don't have?

No. It only knows the modules of your rack, or the jacks and controls of your synth. An answer that invents one is refused, and the credit given back.

What if the sound is impossible with my instrument?

The AI says so, with what is missing. The generation was made: its credit is not given back.

Will the patch sound exactly as expected?

It is a starting point. Listen, adjust by hand, or ask for another version. Your opinion (like, tried on the machine, what is wrong) helps us improve it.

Who sees generated patches?

No other member: they are saved privately, and you publish them if you want. During the beta, the Pulsers team may read them to improve the AI.
