Delay 1

A fully analogue bucket brigade delay line in 12 HP, driven by its own temperature-compensated high-frequency clock for delay times from 1 to 50 ms. Running that clock above 20 kHz removes the whine BBD delays are known for while keeping a wide range of delay, and a new control circuit with an integrated compander keeps distortion and noise low at any signal level. Coarse and fine knobs set the time, with a volt per octave input and a time modulation input; blend, feedback and damping each have a modulation input and knob, the feedback filter switches between lowpass and highpass and the feedback polarity between sum and anti. A built-in pluck generator strikes the delay line for Karplus-Strong sounds, and an HF input and output let an external clock take over or two modules run in step. The split-phase topology gives two dry/wet mixes, their sum and their difference, beside a fully wet delay output: chorus, flanger, echo, mono-to-stereo conversion and complementary comb filtering are all within reach.
