Four-pole VCF and quadrature oscillator

Nonlinearcircuits · 10 HP · 3U

Panel · 50.8 × 128.5 mm

Description

A four-pole VCF and quadrature oscillator after Electronotes 41, its four outputs 90 degrees apart: 0, 90, 180 and 270. As a VCF, the two outputs nearest the panel's edge are low-pass and the other two band-pass. A LO / HI switch runs it at LFO or audio rates, and a nonlinear Q knob gives odd behaviour as a filter or, as an oscillator, raises the outputs' amplitude, which shrinks at low frequencies. Its sync input acts more like a freeze. Four bipolar LEDs show the outputs.

Key features

  • SIGNAL, CV, SYNC and 1V/OCT in; two low-pass and two band-pass outputs, 90 degrees apart
  • COARSE, FINE, NONLIN Q, SIGNAL, CV and Q knobs; a LO / HI range toggle; four bipolar LEDs
  • 10 HP; Nonlinearcircuits publishes no current draw, depth or assembled price (it sells the DIY PCB and panel), and ModularGrid lists none
