Freqy
Single-sideband frequency shifter after the Foster Freqy
Panel · 40.6 × 128.5 mm
Description
After the modified frequency shifter a sound engineer, Don Foster, bent for comedy voices on The Ed Sullivan Show in the early 70s. A single-sideband shifter, simpler than the Bode and Moog designs: a 21 kHz sine multiplies the input, a band-pass keeps the upper sideband, a VCO's sine multiplies it again, shifting it up to ±5 kHz; an envelope follower and vactrol quieten the bleed. With nothing in IN 2, the IN 2/FB knob sets feedback.
