Squid Axon
Chaotic analogue shift register
Panel · 40.6 × 128.5 mm
Description
A squid nerve cell simulator, after the Hodgkin-Huxley equation and a 2003 paper by T. Matsuzaki and M. Nakagawa: a four-stage analogue shift register with two feedback paths, one nonlinear and one linear. With both turned down it is a plain ASR; turned up, its four outputs give more complex, staggered patterns.
Key features
- CLOCK input and three inputs, IN1 to IN3
- NONLINEAR FEEDBACK and IN3/FEEDBACK knobs
- Four outputs, OUT1 to OUT4
- 8 HP; current draw as ModularGrid lists it (Nonlinearcircuits publishes no current draw, depth or assembled price: it sells the DIY PCB and panel)
