Z2040 LP-VCF V1

A 24 dB four-pole low-pass filter in its first edition, a brushed aluminium panel with black cartouches: a discrete design inspired by the SSM2040, with four modulation inputs and an audio VCA.

Key features

• GAIN sets the input gain: below 0db the SSM2040's sweet sound, at 0db its resonance-gain compensation, past it a soft clipping of the filter core and up to 21 Vp-p at the output
• VC-GAIN drives an audio VCA, set by jumpers at the filter's input (as shipped) or its output, or disabled
• RESONANCE and VC-RES, FM and its attenuator, VC-FM: a VCA on the FM line that modulates the FM depth itself
• With no input and RESONANCE fully up, the filter becomes a low-distortion sine oscillator, tracking over about seven octaves
