1U PiLLs
Two cross-coupled PLLs going in and out of chaos at audio rates, with vactrols
Panel · 61 × 39.7 mm
Description
A raw 12 HP 1U version of the Mobius PiLL: two cross-coupled phase-locked loop chips (CD4046) going in and out of chaotic zones at audio rates, for those who like making electronic noise, though CVs from sequencers can tame it. Five inputs, and everything affects everything: FM IN feeds both PLLs; CV RANGE 1 and 2 control the vactrols, each through a resistor and a vactrol; CV 1 and 2 inject a signal into each VCO's control input, from audio to CV rates. The four outputs, from the two VCOs and the two phase comparators, are pulse or square waves from 0 to about 5 V.
Key features
- Five inputs: FM IN, CV RANGE 1 and 2, CV 1 and 2
- Four outputs in gold squares: VCO 1, VCO 2, PM 1 and PM 2, pulse or square waves from 0 to about 5 V
- Vactrols setting each PLL's range
- 12 HP, 1U Intellijel format; Nonlinearcircuits publishes no current draw, depth or assembled price (it sells the DIY PCB and panel)
