1U Signum
A three-state switch: the signum function, with a flat spot at the switching point
Panel · 30.5 × 39.7 mm
Description
In the simplest sense, a switching module, but with three states rather than on and off: the signum function. It switches at about 1 V rather than 0 V, so that gates can control it; the '0' state comes from the diodes' voltage drops, which do the switching. The signal on the bottom input is fed to the switch of the SWITCH jack, so an incoming signal can switch itself without any help. The flat spot at the switching point clicks at slow audio rates: it is far better suited to CV processing. The circuit was first the nonlinear element of the Primal Hyperchaos and the Hyperchaos Deluxe, then brought to the panel in the Signum Hyperchaos; this version drops the chaos. Four LEDs shine through the arrow-shaped windows.
Key features
- SWITCH, the control input, normalled to the bottom input
