32:1
A 1:32 or 32:1 multiplexer, and a 32-stage counter
Panel · 71.1 × 128.5 mm
Description
A 1:32 or 32:1 mux: it splits one input signal into 32 outputs, or switches 32 inputs into one output, on 16:1 analogue switching ICs that pass any voltage within the rails. RESET gives lower counts and ↔ changes direction, for a dash of complexity; with nothing patched into IN/OUT it works as a 32-stage counter, its five LEDs counting in binary. Inspired by the 32-stage counter/multiplexer of Julian Driscoll and Warren Burt, in a completely different, simplified design. Send a VCO to CLOCK and IN and split its waveform into 2 to 32 sections (RESET sets how many), send them to VCFs, waveshapers or VCAs, and put them back together, in another order too, with a second 32:1. The maker notes a small glitch: output 1 gives an extra trigger on count 17.
