Quad VC-Polarizer
Panel · 61 × 128.5 mm
Description
Mutable Instruments' quad voltage-controlled polarizer, from 2016, in 12 HP: four four-quadrant multipliers, VCAs whose negative control voltage inverts the signal instead of muting it, their outputs chained into a mixer.
Key features
- Four channels, each with a big polarity and gain knob (muted at 12 o'clock, inverting to the left) and a modulation attenuverter
- DC-coupled signal and modulation inputs for audio or CV: with audio on both, a clean ring modulator with adjustable carrier rejection
- Signal inputs normalled to +5 V: with nothing patched, each channel is an attenuverter with offset
- Outputs daisy-chained: an unpatched output adds its channel to the next one, up to a mix of all four on output 4
- Bicolour lamps for each channel's gain and polarity and each output's level and polarity
- Made from June 2016 to April 2022; the design is open source
