Stages

Mutable Instruments' segment generator, from 2018, in 14 HP: six segments, each a ramp, a step or a hold, grouped into envelopes, LFOs or sequences by how their gate inputs are patched.

Key features

• Six segments, each with a shape/time knob, a lit time/level slider, a CV input, a gate input and an output
• Three segment types chosen by a button and shown by its lamp: ramp (green), step (yellow), hold (red)
• Segments grouped by patching the gate inputs: one 6-stage envelope, six independent generators, or anything between
• Loops over one segment or a group: self-looping envelopes, LFOs, sustain stages
• Alone, a ramp turns into an LFO, a hold into a CV delay or pulse generator, a step into a slew or sample-and-hold
• Outputs from 0 to +8 V; segments from 1 ms to 16 s; up to six modules chained from the back
• Made from March 2018 to July 2022; the design is open source
