Description
Mutable Instruments' quad chiptune audio generator, in 20 HP: four digital oscillators in the manner of the sound chips of 8-bit consoles and home computers, three square waves and a fourth channel of triangle, sine or noise, with a mixer.
Key features
- Channels 1 to 3: square waves with 50%, 66%, 75%, 87% or 95% pulse width, or a pulse width set by CV
- Channel 4: sine, triangle, NES triangle (16 loudness levels), sample-and-hold noise, or the NES LFSR noise in its long and short cycles
- Per channel: GATE, V/OCT and MOD inputs, a FREQ knob over 6 octaves, an output and a LEVEL knob for the mixer; GATE and V/OCT are normalled from one channel to the next
- XMOD switches: hard sync from channel 1 to 2, ring modulation 1 x 2 and 1 x 3
- WAVEFORM SELECT buttons with gate lamps; per-channel semitone quantizer, 8-step sequencer and calibration
- MIX output; made from August 2013 to October 2016; the design is open source
