Is Carp Lust Wrong?
A BBD voice loosely after the Karplus-Strong algorithm: noise, envelope, delay loop and filter
Panel · 61 × 128.5 mm
Description
Loosely based on the Karplus-Strong algorithm: it may make plucked string sounds, or get lost in a rubbery glitch mess. Not a press-a-button-and-sound-cool module, it takes tweaking. A trigger or gate on EG TRIG opens an envelope (ATTACK, DECAY) on a noise seed, white to pink with COLOUR, or an external one on EXT NOISE, which disables the colour pot; unlike a proper Karplus-Strong system the envelope can stay open for a few seconds. The burst goes round a loop through a BBD, a V3207 of 1024 stages or a V3205 of 4096, clocked by a VCO from about 100 Hz to 300 kHz (RATE, roughly 1 V/oct without temperature compensation), and a filter (CUTOFF, Q); FEEDBACK and Q both self-oscillate when turned up high, and the sound often comes down to balancing the two. Slow clocks give DelayNoMore-like effects. Band-pass and main outputs, the band-pass held within ±5 V by zeners.
