Description

Five 555-based one-shot circuits, after Electronotes EN#93's Cascaded Monostable Generalized Resonator, expanded to five stages with larger capacitors so the pulses get wide enough to merge with each other. Each stage has its pulse width set by a knob and by CV, and its pulse can be negative or positive going at any amplitude (LEVEL). Driven by a VCO (noise or chaos sources are fun too), it makes five pulses that are shaped one by one into a complex, harmonically rich waveform; a slower clock gives clicks and glitches, a voltage-controlled glitch module. The pulse widths can be moved one at a time or together with CV ALL, so the waveform keeps morphing: thin pulses sound like a resonator, wider ones fatter and thicker.

Key features

  • For each of five stages: a CV input, and CV, WIDTH and LEVEL knobs
  • CV ALL, IN and IN in; OUT and OUT
  • 16 HP; Nonlinearcircuits publishes no current draw, depth or assembled price (it sells the DIY PCB and panel), and ModularGrid lists none
