Tidal modulator
Panel · 40.6 × 128.5 mm
Description
Michigan Synth Works' 8 HP Tides: Mutable Instruments' open-source tidal modulator (Tides, 2018), in Jakplugg's derivative design. A function generator that makes a voltage rise and fall, once or in a loop, as an envelope, an LFO or an oscillator, on four related outputs.
Key features
- Three ramp modes: AD envelope, cyclic (LFO or oscillator) and AR envelope, on the RAMP button
- Three frequency ranges on the FREQ button, the FM knob spanning ±4 octaves around them
- SHAPE, SLOPE and SMOOTH set the waveform's segments, its rise/fall ratio, and a low-pass filter or wavefolder
- Four output modes on the OUTPUT button: different shapes, amplitudes, times or frequencies on the four outputs, under SHIFT
- An attenuverter on every CV input but V/OCT
- CLOCK input to follow an external clock or oscillator
- Silver or black panel, each with its own engraving
