Michigan Synth Works' 12 HP Clouds with a control for each parameter: Mutable Instruments' open-source texture synthesizer, in Jakplugg's derivative design, shipped with the Parasites firmware. A granular audio processor: it records the incoming audio into a buffer and plays it back as overlapping grains, shaped by POSITION, DENSITY, SIZE and TEXTURE on four faders and by TUNE.

Key features

• Granular processing of a stereo input; Parasites adds further modes (pitch shifter, looping delay, spectral, reverb, resonator)
• WET, BAL, FBK and RVB on their own knobs and CV inputs: dry/wet, stereo spread, feedback and reverb in the granular mode
• FREEZE stops the recording, so the grains play the frozen buffer; its gate input also triggers a grain
• DISP switches the four LEDs between the level meter and the blend parameters; held, it selects the audio quality
• The pencil button saves and recalls up to four frozen buffers
• CV inputs for POSITION, DENSITY, SIZE, TEXTURE and the four blend parameters, V/OCT and TRIG
• Silver or black panel, the same engraving on both
