Description
Michigan Synth Works' 12 HP Marbles: Mutable Instruments' open-source random sampler, in Jakplugg's derivative design. A generator of random gates (t) and random voltages (X, Y), with a DEJA VU section that loops or permutes past random decisions.
Key features
- t section: a jittery master clock on T2, split into two random gate streams on T1 and T3 by a coin toss, random ratios or drum-like patterns
- X section: three random voltages, their distribution's width, shape and bias set by SPREAD and BIAS
- STEPS morphs the voltages from smooth curves through sample-and-hold steps to notes quantized to a scale
- DEJA VU recycles past random decisions over a loop of 1 to 16 steps, for the t section, the X section or both (the T and X buttons)
- External processing mode (EXT): the X section samples the voltage on the SPREAD input instead of its own random source
- A CV input for each of RATE, DEJA VU, SPREAD, JITTER, BIAS and STEPS, and clock inputs for t and X
