Texture synthesizer
Panel · 81.3 × 128.5 mm
Description
Michigan Synth Works' 16 HP deluxe Clouds: Mutable Instruments' open-source texture synthesizer, in Jakplugg's derivative design, with a control and a CV input for each parameter, stereo VCAs on the input and output, mutes and preset banks, on the Superparasites firmware (the Grayscale Supercell's). A granular audio processor: it records the incoming audio into a buffer and plays it back as overlapping grains, shaped by POSITION, DENSITY, SIZE and TEXTURE on four faders and by TUNE.
Key features
- Eight modes: granular, pitch shifter / time stretch, looping delay, spectral processor, Oliverb, Resonestor, Beat Repeat and Spectral Clouds
- WET, BAL, FBK and RVB on their own knobs and CV inputs: dry/wet, stereo spread, feedback and reverb in the granular mode
- IN LVL and OUT LVL with their VCA inputs, IN MUTE and OUT MUTE, a level meter of four lamps on each side
- AUX sends one CV to every unpatched parameter input; with AUX unpatched, an internal random CV does
- BANK steps through four memory banks to load or save a frozen buffer; TIME sets the sampling time (1, 2, 4 or 8 s) and, held, the mode
- FREEZE and its HOLD input stop the recording; TRIG, the switch or the input, plays a grain
- Silver or black panel, the same engraving on both
