Wavefolder and VCA with fuzz
Panel · 40.6 × 128.5 mm
Description
A wavefolder grown out of a chaos circuit (after Milan Stork's delay-line oscillator): a VCA, then four nonlinear stages of two different kinds in series, so the folding is complex, unbalanced and can be noisy. A comparator sets the main output against the input for a train of 5 V pulses. A VCA with fuzz uses the spare half of the chip: with nothing patched, its input takes the folder's third stage and its CV the folder's input, for a third, harsher folded output, or a ring-modulator sound with the OFFSET knob.
Key features
- Wavefolder: IN, FOLD CV and OFFSET CV in, OUT and PULSE out; FOLD and OFFSET knobs, with FOLD CV and OFFSET CV attenuators
- OFFSET works both ways, at 0 at its midpoint; no DC blocking on the input, so it shapes CVs too
- VCA/FUZZ: IN, CV and OUT, with its VCA and FUZZ knobs
- 8 HP; Nonlinearcircuits publishes no current draw, depth or assembled price (it sells the DIY PCB and panel), and ModularGrid lists none
