tELHARMONIC
Additive, noise and phase modulation voice with voltage controlled music theory, by Tom Erbe
Panel · 71.1 × 128.5 mm
Description
The tELHARMONIC, coded by Tom Erbe (soundhack), runs three historic synthesis algorithms at once, each at its own output: Harmonic, an additive synthesis after Cahill's Telharmonium; Noise, after Tenney's early computer music; and three-voice Phase Modulation, after the digital synthesis of the 1980s. Its left side is a voltage controlled music theory: TONIC, INTERVAL, DEGREE and D-GATE program chords, scales and melodies by patching, shown by the Color Staff.
Key features
- Three algorithms at once: N, H and P outputs
- CENTROID and FLUX shape each algorithm's timbre; H-LOCK locks harmonics on
- TONIC over six octaves at 1V/octave; INTERVAL sets triads, fifths, unison or octave; DEGREE quantizes the notes
- D-GATE to step DEGREE, and a Gate output at each change of degree, with its lamp
- The Color Staff lights in a colour per chord
- Retired
