Tides (2018)

Mutable Instruments' tidal modulator in 14 HP: a function generator that makes a voltage rise and fall, once or in a loop, as an envelope, an LFO or an oscillator, on four related outputs.

Key features

• Three ramp modes: AD envelope, cyclic (LFO or oscillator) and AR envelope
• Three frequency ranges centred on 1/8 Hz, 2 Hz and 130.8 Hz, the FREQUENCY knob spanning ±4 octaves around them
• SHAPE, SLOPE and SMOOTHNESS set the waveform's segments, its rise/fall ratio, and a low-pass filter or wavefolder
• Four output modes: different shapes, amplitudes, times or frequencies on the four outputs, under SHIFT/LEVEL
• CLOCK input to follow an external clock or oscillator at a ratio from 1/16 to 16x
• Made from September 2018 to June 2022; the design is open source
