Michigan Synth Works' 8 HP Plaits: Mutable Instruments' open-source macro-oscillator, in Jakplugg's derivative design, with Plaits' last firmware (1.2, 2022). Its models, chosen with its two buttons and shown on its eight LEDs, cover virtual analogue, waveshaping, FM, grains, additive, wavetables, chords, speech, swarms, noise, physical models and drums; its low-pass gate is struck by TRIG.

Key features

• 24 models in three banks of eight on eight LEDs, the third bank added by the 1.2 update
• FREQ, HARM, TIMBRE and MORPH, each with its CV input; TIMBRE, FM and MORPH attenuverters
• TRIG strikes the internal low-pass gate and its envelope, which the attenuverters send to TIMBRE, FM and MORPH when their inputs are empty; LVL opens the gate
• OUT and AUX, the AUX a variant or by-product of the main signal
• A power header with no polarity: it can be plugged either way
• Silver or black panel
