Choral Generator
Three BBD chorus channels after the ARP Omni's, in parallel or in series, each under CV
Panel · 91.4 × 128.5 mm
Description
A BBD-based triple chorus generator, inspired by the Choral generator in the ARP Omni, the circuit after one from Electronotes. DC coupled, it processes CVs as well as audio. As is, a signal patched into in1 is fed through all three BBDs and arrives at out all, the three in parallel as on the ARP Omni; the best effect is to modulate them with a three-phase signal or a quadrature oscillator such as the NLC Feague. Patched out1 to in2 and out2 to in3, the three are in series; patching the inputs breaks the internal routing, so the three can be used on their own. Each channel has its DELAY, its CV level and its REGEN, with a toggle choosing positive or negative feedback, or off in the middle. Each channel's clock is an OTA VCO, roughly 400 Hz to 250 kHz; with REGEN up it self-oscillates, a triple VCO.
Key features
- Three BBD channels: DELAY, CV and REGEN knobs and a +/- feedback toggle (ON-OFF-ON) each
- in1 to in3, two columns of cv1 to cv3 (one printed time/2 per 1V) in; out1 to out3 and out all
- in1 feeds all three channels in parallel; patching in2 or in3 breaks the routing
- 18 HP; Nonlinearcircuits publishes no current draw, depth or assembled price (it sells the DIY PCB and panel), and ModularGrid lists none
