Clump
A 4x4 CV-controlled matrix mixer: sixteen VCAs into four mixers
Panel · 121.9 × 128.5 mm
Description
Clump is a 4x4 CV-controlled matrix mixer: sixteen VCAs on board along with four mixers, or a regular mixer if you prefer. It started out as a half-sized version of the Cluster (8x4), with a few things changed that often bugged its maker on the Cluster and some suggestions taken up. The columns are numbered 1 to 4, the rows lettered a to d: each of the four signal inputs, at the foot of its column, goes through a switch that passes it, turns it off or inverts it, to the column's four VCAs; each row's four VCAs are mixed to its output, OUT a at the top. Each VCA has its pot and its CV input: with no CV patched the pot is a gain pot, boosting the signal up to about 2x, with CV patched an attenuator. Each VCA gets a 1k trimpot on the board to remove any offset voltage.
Key features
- Sixteen VCAs, 1a to 4d, each with its pot and its CV input: a gain up to about 2x with no CV, an attenuator with CV
- Four signal inputs, one per column, each with a normal, off or invert switch
- Four outputs, one per row, OUT a to OUT d
- 24 HP; Nonlinearcircuits publishes no current draw, depth or assembled price (it sells the DIY PCB and panel), and ModularGrid lists none
