Fast and Bulbous VCF

A four-stage SSI2140 low-pass filter and phaser, stage by stage

Nonlinearcircuits · 8 HP · 3U

Panel · 40.6 × 128.5 mm

Description

A filter on the SSI2140, based on the SSM2040 with a few updates, after C. Anderton's design in Device 1-6, modified for the SSI2140 and Eurorack: a module that switches between a phaser and a VCF. Four switches, one per OTA stage, set each stage to low-pass (FILTER) or all-pass (PHASER); two or three in one mode and one or two in the other is a lot of fun. OUT is taken from the fourth stage; DRY MIX mixes the incoming signals into it, more common in phaser mode, though there are no rules. POLES is a weighted mix of the outputs of each pole: a bit shy with every switch on low-pass, it perks up nicely with one or more on phaser.
