Mysteron
Dual digital waveguide
Panel · 71.1 × 128.5 mm
Description
The Mysteron is a voltage-controlled dual digital waveguide, after Karplus and Strong, Julius O. Smith and Ron Berry: excited by a gate, its two waveguides ring like a plucked string, a struck bar or a bowed one, from short percussive bursts to sustained tones. It makes no sound until something is patched to one of its EXCITE inputs.
Key features
- PITCH sets the length of both waveguides over about five octaves, with a fine tune; full left, a quantize mode tracks PITCH 2 in semitones
- Two EXCITE gate inputs, normalled to each other, each with its lamp; used apart, the two waveguides take two pitches
- IMPULSE sets the strength of the excitation, MUTATION's DEPTH and TYPE blend other waveforms into it
- GENERATION feeds the output back, de-generative to the left, re-generative to the right, up to self-oscillation
- The !! gate input bows the excitation, or cross-couples the two waveguides
- Control inputs for every parameter, with attenuators
- Retired
